College football week 12 is in the books. After every week fans can take away things from what happened on the field. Here are 5 things learned from college football week 12.

1. Washington has Clinched a Spot in the Pac-12 Championship

With a win over Oregon State, Washington has clinched their spot in the Pac-12 Championship. They faced bad conditions, but were able to win the game 22-20. It was another impressive win, which should help Washington move into the top four this week.

Washington can finish out the season strong and make the CFP. They don’t yet know who their opponent is going to be. Oregon and Arizona are still in play to take the last spot. It most likely will be Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game, which will be a challenge for the Huskies even after defeating them once this season.

2. Louisville has Qualified for the ACC Championship

Louisville played a back-and-forth game with Miami in week 12, but came away victorious. With the win, they clinched a spot in the ACC Championship Game. It took a big game from Jack Plummer who passed for 308 yards and a touchdown. His play, along with the efforts of Jeff Brohm as head coach, has put Louisville in a great spot.

The Cardinals will play in the ACC Championship against Florida State. They still have one game against Kentucky before they get to that point. While Louisville is a long shot to make the CFP, they could still make a New Year’s Six Bowl, which is an incredible feat for the Cardinals.

3. Florida State is in Trouble

Florida State is 11-0 and just notched a win over North Alabama, but they are in trouble. Starting quarterback Jordan Travis went down with a leg injury and it doesn’t look like he will be able to return any time soon. They still have a few games left if they want to make the College Football Playoff.

The Seminoles have a game with Florida to end the regular season. Florida is also dealing with injuries at the quarterback position, but should be a tough game. Then they’ll have the ACC Championship against Louisville. They have to win out to make the CFP. If they slip up without their starting quarterback they stand no chance of making the playoff. Even without a loss, the committee will view the Seminoles with a more critical lens.

4. Several Potential Coaches of the Year are Standing Out

There are several potential candidates for Coach of the Year that have stood out. As alluded to earlier, Jeff Brohm has done a great job in year one at Louisville. With just one loss heading into the last week of the regular season and qualifying for the ACC Championship is a tremendous job worthy of consideration.

Another coach who has stood out is Jedd Fisch. The Arizona head coach has the Wildcats doing well with an 8-3 record after they defeated Utah in week 12. With a win in the final week of the season, they could be heading to a New Year’s Six Bowl Game, which would be great for a program that won one game two seasons ago.

5. Jayden Daniels Will Be at the Heisman Ceremony

This isn’t official yet, but Jayden Daniels has done enough to earn an invite to the Heisman Trophy Ceremony. The LSU quarterback has passed for 3,164 yards, 30 touchdowns and four interceptions on 71.4 percent completion. He has 918 rushing yards and eight touchdowns as well, showing he has the stats to win the award.

While some have problems with a player on a team with three losses winning the award, players on worse teams have won the award before. Lamar Jackson won the Heisman in 2016 with these stats: 3,543 passing yards, 30 passing touchdowns, nine interceptions, 59.1 percent completion, 1,601 rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns. While Daniels’s stats don’t have quite the volume that Jackson’s do, he has been more efficient. With one game left for Daniels he can pad his stats and be present in New York for the award.
