Team of the Year will soon hit FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, celebrating the best performers from the previous calendar year!

Although the final TOTY XI and 12th man will be the main cards people are after, let’s not forget that an Honourable Mentions squad will be joining packs too.

TOTY Honourable Mentions Release Date

With Team of the Year cards set to start hitting packs on Friday, 20 January at 1pm ET / 6pm GMT we would expect TOTY Honourable Mentions to come the following week.

They would join the final TOTY XI and 12th Man in packs from Friday, 27 January until Friday, 3 February.

Team of the Year Honourable Mentions

Team of the Year is an annual promo in Ultimate Team which celebrates the best-performing players from the previous calendar year and it has been accompanied by TOTY Honourable Mentions cards in the last few years.

As there are only 11 spots and a 12th Man included in the main TOTY, Honourable Mentions cards are given to those players who just missed out.

Honourable Mentions will receive heavily boosted cards in Ultimate Team but will not be given the ridiculously overpowered cards like an actual TOTY.

The Team of the Year campaign is expected to run across two weeks, with the predicted schedule as follows:

• Friday, 20 – Sunday, 22 January – TOTY Attackers in packs
• Sunday, 22 – Tuesday, 24 January – TOTY Midfielders in packs
• Tuesday, 24 – Thursday, 26 January – TOTY Defenders and Goalkeeper in packs
• Thursday, 26 January – Friday, 3 February – Full TOTY XI in packs
• Friday, 27 January – Friday, 3 February – 12th Man and Honourable Mentions in packs

Nominees

The 100 Nominees for Team of the Year were announced on Monday, 9 January at 11am ET / 4pm GMT, with Cristiano Ronaldo missing out!

As with the final XI, the Honourable Mentions will have been included on this list, so we know what names are likely to appear in the squad.

Predictions

As the Honourable Mentions players will already have made it onto the TOTY Nominees list, we know who could receive a card.

EA will once again weigh up which players to include based on real-life performances and popularity within the game, which means someone like Alphonso Davies is more likely to feature.

More recent performances and those from the World Cup will also play a bigger role in helping the selection, so Casemiro’s top form at Manchester United recently and Cristian Romero’s World Cup win will certainly help their cases.

It appears that Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde will be battling for the final spot in the TOTY XI midfield three, and whoever doesn’t make it will surely make the Honourable Mentions side.

Similarly, we think that Neymar and Erling Haaland could be in a head-to-head to gain the 12th Man place, with the loser of that contest gaining a TOTY HM version instead.
