With the rise of AI web applications, everyone from beginners to enthusiasts can explore this fascinating field in a hands-on and accessible way.
In this article, we’ll explore five must-try AI web apps that offer a wide range of functionalities, from language processing to image recognition. Whether you’re new to AI or an enthusiast looking to broaden your horizon, these apps are sure to pique your interest.
Most of all, these apps are absolutely free to try.
ChatGPT by OpenAI
ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, is a powerful language model that uses machine learning to generate human-like text.
It can draft emails, write code, answer questions, tutor in a variety of subjects, translate languages, and even write poetry. The model learns from a diverse range of internet text, but it does not know specific documents or sources. It is also prone to “hallucination” or pretending to present something as a fact when it is not. Still, it is an incredible tool that can immediately showcase to the user the power of AI.
ChatGPT-3.5 is available for free to all users while ChatGPT-4 with web browsing capabilities is available to paying subscribers.
Bing Chat by Microsoft
Microsoft’s Bing Chat employs the ChatGPT-based AI chatbot as part of what they call “New Bing”. This AI tool offers a range of functions, including the ability to choose different conversation styles and even generate images. This means if you want it to converse in a more professional tone or in a lighthearted way, you can choose to do so.
What makes it sometimes better than the free version of ChatGPT is that it can browse the web in real time to provide answers.

Bard by Google
While the first two apps mentioned are almost tightly integrated with each other (Microsoft has a sizeable investment to OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT), Bard is from the world’s largest search engine and can therefore tap into data from Google unlike ChatGPT. It is very much like OpenAI’s product in that you can ask it questions and perform tasks for you and it will reply with its answers. There appears to be no paid version available for Bard, yet.
Google has plans to integrate Bard to its suite of products, the same that Microsoft is doing with Office365.
While the first three are all text based programs, users can try Dall-E to generate images based on prompts. It is one of the most popular AI image generators and one reason for which is that it is free to use (up to a certain number).
Dall-E is also a product of OpenAI. While there may be more sophisticated AI image generators available, the fact that Dall-E is free encourages more users to experiment with it. This allows individuals to understand how AI is currently being used to create images, even if they aren’t designers or graphic artists.
There’s an AI for That
The AI tool of all AI tools. There may be instances where you want to perform a specific task but aren’t sure which product or app to use. There’s an AI for That is a tool that allows users to search its database to find the right app powered by AI that the user needs.
At the time this article is written, it has 4,558 AI tools in its database for around 1,273 tasks. And the good news is that it is updated daily.
AI web applications are powerful tools that can help users understand and navigate the vast and rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. From language models like ChatGPT to image generating platforms like Dall-E, these apps offer accessible ways to interact with AI technology. As we continue to see advancements in this field, it’s clear that AI is not just for tech experts—it’s for everyone.
