A mind-bending visual novel in which we get the opportunity to solve crimes, make good some of the most daring of escapes and look to charm our foes, all whilst delving deep into the memory bank to help change the present? Yeah, RE:CALL has us sold!

Available to purchase and download today, RE:CALL arrives from the creator of Evan’s Remains – Matias Schmied – as they team up with the Whitethorn Games team (previously behind the likes of Lake, APICO and more) to thrust players into a new visual novel crossed with puzzle platformer.

RE:CALL will see you delving deep into the mind, as you look to search through the protagonist’s memories in hope of amending the present time. The idea is that those amendments and changes will be of help, but of course, things can – and probably will – go wrong.

It’s a flashback system which is the heart of RE:CALL as you wield the power to alter a recollection of past events in order to immediately affect the present. For instance, a guard with a minor head wound may be barring the entrance to a door, but what if the protagonist used another method to get past them instead of the rock they used the first time around?

It all boils down to a bit of puzzle solving, some change of hearts and customisation of the minds of friends and foes, all as you look to reshape the future. Think of yourself as a modern day memory detective and you’ll be somewhere close.

The key features of RE:CALL should hope to sell it a bit more, as should the latest trailer.

  • -Solve mysteries by manipulating your memory. Escape a factory, solve a crime, and win the hearts and minds of your enemies by changing the past.
  • -Get immersed in an epic narrative-driven adventure with a diverse cast of characters.
  • -Get to know over 10 unique characters, each with their own quirks.
  • -Investigate and solve the mystery of your own mysterious power. Who is behind this?

From there, keep an eye out for our full review – we’ll be taking a look at RE:CALL on Xbox Series X|S, delivering a verdict when we can. If you wish to get involved, make your way to the digital store of your choosing – RE:CALL is on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, the Nintendo eShop for Switch and over on Steam for PC. It’s priced around £16.74.
