2023 AECT SUMMER RESERACH SYMPOSIUM: NOW ACCEPTING FOR PROPOSALS

AECT Virtual Summer Research Symposium: ‘Transdisciplinary Learning Experience Design: Futures, Synergies, and Innovation’ Virtual Event on July 13 – 14 (Thursday and Friday), 2023 Consider submitting your proposal for our 12th Summer Research Symposium. We are  soliciting research-supported papers for a symposium on ‘Transdisciplinary Learning Experience Design‘. Writings selected will be included in a published book. Proposals are solicited in multiple areas of Learning Experience Design (LXD), including participatory and co-design, innovative LXD methods, and learning-focused usability research. Design cases, theoretical papers, and conceptual contributions are also welcome. We are particularly interested in submissions that explore the transdisciplinary nature of LXD and synergies among disciplines. We therefore specifically invite perspectives from outside the traditional boundaries of instructional design and educational technology.. 2023 AECT INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION: CALL FOR PROPOSALS

AECT 100: Reflections and Transformations The 2023 convention marks 100 years as an organization. As we continue to address critical issues within our field and in our larger societies, there is value in revisiting and reflecting on previous contributions that have shaped our current practices and perspectives fundamental theories and practices that contribute to today’s research, policies, and practices whether our work includes, serves, and benefits from the diversity of learners and context We invite high-quality presentations from a wide diversity of disciplines focused on positively impacting learning and training in different contexts, such as higher education, K-12, corporate, military, government, non-profit, and health settings. In addition, we welcome empirical, theoretical, and philosophical scholarship, as well as practitioner-oriented presentations focused on improving learning. CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS – DIVISION OF DISTANCE LEARNING

The AECT Division of Distance Learning is looking for volunteer reviewers for the following Awards: DDL AECT Crystal Award DDL Distance Education Best Practices Award DDL Distance Education Book Award DDL Distance Education Book Chapter Award DDL Journal Article Awards If you volunteer to serve as a coordinator or reviewer, submissions will be sent to you as received (the deadline for submitters is April 30th, 2022), and this year’s evaluations will be due to us by June 15th, 2023. Information about each of the awards, evaluation criteria, and how to submit nominations will be updated before February. In the meantime, please check the previous information Here. If you can help, please complete this AECT DDL Awards Interest Form by Tuesday, January 31st, 2023. We hope you can help us evaluate these exciting projects!

FREE GSA WEBINAR: SUPPORTING MENTAL HEALTH IN ACADEMIA AND ADVOCATING FOR CHANGE

Research reveals that academics studying and working at a university report mental health challenges related to their experiences in the academic setting. This panel will discuss the challenging nature of academic culture and how members of this community can support themselves and advocate for change. Topics will include: imposter syndrome, mental health, establishing safe and healthy boundaries, relationships, and productivity norms. Panelists will share their experiences as academics with a focus on supporting themselves. CALL FOR PROPOSALS/PAPERS: POSITIVE TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2023

The Organizing Committee of Positive Technology International Conference 2023 would like to draw your attention to the call for proposals to the PT 2023. The OC cordially invites you to submit abstract proposals (no more than 300 words) or full papers (12-20 pages, single-line spacing, APA style 7th edition) to the PT 2023 (Easy Chair). CALL FOR PAPERS: JOURNAL OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY & SOCIETY

The Journal of Educational Technology & Society (J-ET&S), a top ranked journal on Google Scholar, is calling for papers for a special issue focusing on the theme, “Educational Design Research for Human Beings Learning Access – Centering Accessibility, Equity, and Inclusion”. SECOND ISSUE OF NEW AECT JOURNAL NOW AVAILABLE

In association with the Teacher Education Division, AECT is excited to announce that the second issue of the Journal of Technology-Integrated Lessons and Technology (JTILT) is now available. JTILT is a brand new openly licensed AECT journal finishing its first year of publication. The journal publishes openly licensed, peer-reviewed technology-integrated lesson plans for teachers and teacher educators. IJDL LATEST ISSUE (VOLUME 13, ISSUE 2)

The International Journal of Designs for Learning (IJDL) is pleased to announce its latest issue (Volume 13, Issue 2) has recently been published! The issue includes eight (8) design cases published in an open-access format. Stay tuned for the upcoming issue (Volume 13, Issue 3), scheduled to be published toward the end of this year/early January 2023, including a Special Section on Design Failure in Learning  Design.

The Journal of Applied Instructional Design (JAID) is excited to announce its special issue, Rethinking Multimedia Design for Learning, (Volume 11, Issue 4) has recently been published using the new open-access format. TIPS AND RESOURCES – MAKING ZOOM MEETINGS ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS

Below is a list of tips and resources to help make Zoom meetings as accessible as possible for all participants, including participants with disabilities. Most functions in Zoom are user-friendly and accessible to people who use assistive technology. There are, however, a few exceptions and best practices. Ensure everyone can participate. The polling feature is accessible to people who use assistive technology. Be sure to notify participants verbally when you are launching a poll, provide enough time for participation, and inform participants when the poll will close. Avoid side conversations in chat and share links from chat via email or another channel. When sharing a screen, verbalize what is on a screen and share materials ahead of the meeting. Reduce background noise by muting participants that are not speaking. Enable automatic captioning by following this tutorial. (Remember that the accuracy of automatic captions will vary and should not replace human-generated captions or interpreters when requested.) Read more about Zoom’s accessibility features.
