Startup Crossover Markets Appoints Instinet CEO as Strategic Advisor

Crossover Markets Group, a startup providing an advanced digital assets marketplace for institutional investors, has appointed Ralston Roberts, the Chief Executive Officer of institutional agency-model broker, Instinet Incorporated, as its Strategic Advisor.

Anthony Mazzarese, the Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Crossover Markets Group, announced Ralston’s appointment on Wednesday.

Crossover Markets was launched earlier in April by Mazzarese, Brandon Mulvihill and Vlad Rysin, two former Jefferies and one Euronext FX employee, respectively.

Mazzarese believes that Roberts, a financial industry veteran with over two decades of experience, will help advance the startup’s “positioning and differentiation in the institutional digital asset marketplace”.

“Ralston will support and advise the executive leadership team, bringing to bear his wealth of experience in global electronic execution services, liquidity and crossing, and trading technology solutions,” Mazzarese said.

Roberts’ Industry Experience

Roberts, who kick-started his career in October 1998 as a Management Trainee at global investment firm Franklin Templeton, has so far recorded a 24-year career spanning across top American banks such as Goldman Sachs and Wells Fargo.

Since November 2018, he has been managing the overall operations of Instinet Incorporated as its CEO.

He joined the agency-model brokerage from American financial holding company, Goldmans Sachs, where he was the firm’s Managing Director for the United Kingdom for over three years.

Between joining Goldman Sachs in August 2015, the executive worked at defunct SunGard Financial Systems for almost a decade.

He served as Senior Managing Director and later Chief Operating Officer, Real-Time Market Data and Network Services, during his long-stay at the finanical software and IT services company. SunGard was acquired in 2015 by Fidelity National Information Services.

Additionally, for four years between 2002 and 2006, Roberts was the Chief Technology Officer at Wells Fargo Securities, LLC.

After Franklin Templeton, where he started out, Ralston also worked as an Associate at wealth management firm Robertson Stephens between 1999 and 2001.

He holds a BA in Business Economics and Geography from the University of California at Santa Barbara where he graduated in 1998.

Meanwhile, Crossover Markets recently appointed Daniel Hart, a former Vice President of Forex Prime Brokerage Sales at Jefferies, as its Director of Business Development.
