Woonsocket search warrants yield 12 kilograms of suspected fentanyl

The Woonsocket police display marijuana, fentanyl, guns and equipment seized Thursday.

The police say they seized some 12 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, 87 marijuana plants and two semi-automatic handguns Thursday in Woonsocket.

The seizures came after the Woonsocket Police Department‘s narcotics unit, with the help of a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration task force, executed search warrants at 144 Mason St. and 436 South Main St., second floor, the Woonsocket police said in a news release.

The police said they also arrested two men, ages 44 and 29, after stopping a car that had left the Mason Street property. The two face charges of possessing, manufacturing and selling fentanyl and marijuana, as well carrying dangerous weapons, the police said.
