World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is merely days away

World of Warcraft Dragonflight is just a few days off from its launch and there is a plethora to look froward to with it.

World of Warcraft has been around for eighteen years now, celebrating that milestone just a few days back on November 23rd, 2022 – and the game, even though many have stated so, is far from “dead”. While many problems may lie within the background of it’s Developer and Publisher alike, WoW has still maintained a spot amongst the top MMORPG game titles over its lifespan. Now, with its NINTH expansion about to make touchdown, there are a few things to look forward to – and we are going to compile a list of some of the best reasons to return to WoW for Dragonflight or start your journey if you are looking for something new to experience.

With that said, World of Warcraft is not for everyone, and this is merely a guide for those who may have their interests piqued.

Levelling up

One of the best aspects of WoW can be levelling for some, and that has been streamlined over the years, as players have wanted faster ways to reach the endgame content. DF takes the streamlining process to a whole new level, drastically changing the amount of experience needed to level from 1 through to 60. While levels 11 through to 31 have seen a small spike in the amount required, everything else has seen a massive overhaul, with the changes equating to over 60% less exp (and thus time) required to level through to 60 – which is where your Dragonflight journey would begin.

Primal Storms

Currently, and ongoing until the day of launch, a pre-patch event is active in World of Warcraft, which sees three zones being invaded throughout the day, with players able to earn catch-up gear, a pet, a toy, a new reagent bag, and a Feat of Strength too – alongside being one of the fastest ways to level up. Players can begin their pre-patch journey in their Capital cities, before heading out towards Badlands, Northern Barrens or Un’Goro Crater to defeat the invasions on hand. While the catch-up gear is far from high tier, it will be a great boost for returning or new players at item level 252.

players flock back for the pre-patch event

The events also feature a brand-new Heirloom trinket for those who are either collectors or want to just pick up something new. The trinket requires an item which drops from the main bosses of the invasions – one from each of the different elements available: storm, water, fire, earth. Combining these will net you a new trinket, while also killing all of the aforementioned elemental boss will gain you the feat of strength.

Dragon Riding

One of the more interesting mechanics coming with Dragonflight is that of Dragon Riding – a flying system with no consequential powers linked, except to get the player from point A to B faster – and in the most fun way possible. As many players found out quickly on the beta, Dragon Riding is possibly one of the most fun mechanics brought into the game, with players able to upgrade and personalise their own dragon and fly across the new areas faster than ever before. The one downside to this is that this feature has yet to be implemented in the older areas, which would make it even more impressive should that happen.

Evokers

With a new expansion, sometimes comes a new class – and this time we have a Dragon race to go along with it. The Dracthyr, a race of long slumbering dragonkin, have awoken and bring their healing and damaging magics to the forefront of the game. Alongside this, Blizzard have released a series of lore videos to make the player base more familiar with both the Dragon Aspects and the Dracthyr themselves. Unfortunately, for now, the new class is only available to be played by the new race and thus, vice versa – which is something we do hope to see changed at a later point in time.

Talent tree revamps

Over the years one of the biggest downfalls in WoW has been the talents, as they have become bland and boring across all classes. Dragonflight looks to change this completely, reworking the talent trees of each and every class and specialisation, giving players more control of their damage, healing, or tanking abilities. Although in some cases, this has caused a loss of skills as they streamline things a bit more, the trees open up for huge potential once players reach maximum level in DF.

There is a ton more to discuss about WoW’s latest Dragonflight expansion, but with the game releasing on November 28th, players will get to finally see for themselves. While the game may look amazing on paper, and a win for now, this may be Blizzard’s last possible attempt to entice the players and bring them back to a world that was once blooming with possibilities. Whether it works or not remains to be seen as we prepare to take flight.
