Enovis introduces DynaNail Helix foot and ankle fusion

Medical technology firm Enovis has launched the new foot and ankle fusion, DynaNail Helix.

The latest member of the DynaNail family, DynaNail Helix is a new twist on the nail that has been developed to revolutionise dynamic compression in foot and ankle fusion.

It is intended to achieve sustained dynamic compression for subtalar fusion with a new anatomically friendly design and simple, screw-like insertion.

The small and easy-to-use DynaNail Helix uses the NiTiNOL compressive element technology from other DynaNail systems.

It comes with a NiTiNOL compressive element, which is pre-stretched and pre-loaded on a disposable nail guide that links directly to the ratcheting handle for easy insertion.

In response to bone settling or resorption, the internal compressive element provides 1mm to 4mm of active compression.

DynaNail Helix does not have transverse screws, which eliminates the need for orthopaedic surgeons to stretch the NiTiNOL element manually.

Enovis Foot & Ankle president Gary Justak said: “The flexible, pseudo elastic NiTiNOL element that DynaNail Helix offers is unlike typical static fixation devices that are available on the market.

“Not only does DynaNail Helix offer intraoperative manual compression, but it also allows for up to 4mm of post-operative compression in response to bone resorption or settling.

“This sustained compression is designed to give patients a better chance at healing faster, with fewer complications.”

The new DynaNail Helix’s threads are available in both headed and headless options for procedural and anatomical versatility.

They facilitate easy insertion like a screw while offering dynamic compressive power and stability of a nail.

In July this year, Enovis introduced the wearable Arvis device for orthopaedic navigation.
