New Hitman III VR Footage Offers More Teasing Details

Last week’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast threw up a couple of interesting PlayStation VR announcements, the biggest of which was virtual reality (VR) support for the upcoming Hitman III. Now a new video has surfaced showing a bit more of the videogame in action.

Ian Higton from Eurogamer posted a tweet with a very short 13-second video he’d been sent from IO Interactive which sees Agent 47 pushing a lantern and watching it swing. Not a great deal to see but as Higton mentions in his tweet, the scene is gorgeous to look at making Hitman III potentially one of the best looking PlayStation VR titles.

That swing offers up possible dynamic lighting effects to aid that sense of realism, plus if the lantern is an interactive element then there should be plenty more objects for gamers to pick up and play with. While PlayStation Move hasn’t been mentioned directly, support looks definite. The hand in the video is a good indicator plus the fact that IO Interactive’s Travis Barbour previously said in a PlayStation Blog post: “interact with items using your hands. For example, you can swing a frying pan in whatever angle you want to knock out a guard.”

Hitman III looks to be the first major PlayStation VR compatible title confirmed for 2021, with the infamous Agent 47 returning to complete a new set of contracts and step in VR for the first time. As an added bonus, players who own the previous two Hitman videogames will be able to import locations from either, making 20+ locations from the entire trilogy VR compatible.

Hitman III

That’s quite the collection for Hitman fans to get stuck into. When the launch of Hitman III takes place in January next year it’ll be a multiplatform launch across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC. IO Interactive has yet to say whether the PC version will also feature VR support, instead being PlayStation VR exclusive in a similar vein to Resident Evil 7 biohazard.

As further details are released for Hitman III, VRFocus will keep you updated.
