Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called on the new Labour party leader Keir Starmer to work alongside him on the coronavirus crisis.

In a letter posted in advance of Starmer’s victory on Saturday, April 4, Johnson said he wanted all opposition parties to meet with him to discuss the government’s response to the pandemic.

Following his victory Starmer promised to work constructively with the government on the issue.

A further 708 people in the UK have died after testing positive for the coronavirus, the Department of Health announced on Saturday, April 4.
